Alumna Julia Ward ’13 combined her passions of the legal field and helping others to pursue a fulfilling career. Since leaving the nest in 2013, Ward is now an attorney based in Washington, D.C. working for a non-profit that provides legal services to low-income people.
“I focus specifically on providing legal assistance to women who have experienced domestic violence,” Ward said.
Ward knew she wanted to pursue a career in law through her Fulbright Scholarship, which took her to Namibia where she researched gender-based violence.
“My Fulbright experience inspired my continued work in the law and specifically to continue working with survivors of gender-based violence in under-served communities,” Ward said.
In 2017, Ward earned her J.D. and Certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies from Georgetown University Law Center. Ward continues to embody the College’s motto of Educate for Service through her dedication and commitment to helping others seek justice. Way to go, Julia!
