With entrepreneurial seeds initially sown while students at Elizabethtown College, twin brothers Greg ’11 and Mike ’11 Kenneally have grown the business they co-founded, East Coast Dyes Inc., into a leading company in the lacrosse industry for string, mesh, apparel and equipment. It is for their business savvy, strong work ethic and outstanding successes that the Alumni Council selected each of them to receive these prestigious awards—honors that were conferred upon them on May 17, 2018.
Each equipped with bachelor’s degrees in accounting and an unwavering commitment to the motto that “hard work pays off,” Greg and Mike built East Coast Dyes Inc. from the ground up and now fulfill primary leadership roles for the company—serving as president and vice president, respectively. For Greg, who served as the men’s lacrosse team’s “stick doctor” in his student years, his motivation and desire to develop a wax mesh that was superior to those currently on the market led him to begin creating prototypes that eventually became East Coast Dyes products.
As for Mike, his strong work ethic, in the classroom and on the lacrosse field, contributed to his ability to recognize and make the most of opportunities. His successes as a student and two years of service as captain to the Lacrosse team helped him develop a keen sense of leadership and what it takes to support successful management practices. It was this foundation that helped to prepare him to partner with Greg and set East Coast Dyes on its meteoric rise.
East Coast Dyes has now grown into a 9,000-square-foot facility headquartered outside of Baltimore, Maryland, with products available worldwide. In the process, Greg and Mike have remained true to their Elizabethtown roots and hired many fellow Blue Jay alumni to join the East Coast Dyes team.
The Kenneally brothers continue to be loyal E-town alumni, as well as outstanding supporters of the Blue Jay lacrosse programs. To date, they have donated thousands of dollars in equipment to both lacrosse teams. It is also through their support that East Coast Dyes serves as a sought-after location for E-town College students to gain invaluable internship experience. Mike serves as a member of the Blue Jay Athletic Association Council of Leaders and President of the BJAA Men’s Lacrosse Alumni Club.
