I can distinctly remember the embrace of the crisp, cool, autumn air and the view of the trees outfitted in Mother Nature’s most vibrant pallet of reds, oranges and yellows. It was October in the fall of 1992 on the E-town College campus, and things were getting … interesting. Yes, Halloween was in the near future. But even more unusual were the stories that were beginning to seep into the conversational channels of Blue Jays like the sticky, gooey coating of a caramel apple.  Odd things were happening on campus.  Weird, vocally-distorted phone messages had been mysteriously popping into the voicemail accounts of campus community members for days, and everyone had taken notice. Reflections On Coming Home

Seasons do funny things to me. During my years as a student, I can vividly remember how much I would look forward to returning to campus after the summer to reconnect with student friends, as well as the staff and faculty members with whom I had developed ties during the previous academic year. The strength of these feelings was matched by the anticipation of returning to a place that, in many ways, had become as comfortable and familiar to me as the house in which I had grown up. Without question, the draw to return “home” to E-town each fall quickly became one of my most powerful and treasured intuitions throughout those years. Interestingly enough, that innate sense is still alive and well—and I am still strongly reminded of those warm and cozy feelings every year at this time....

Mark’s Message

Greetings from campus and welcome to the alumni-focused pages of the magazine!  It has been a busy time in the life of the Elizabethtown College Alumni Association (ECAA). A new ECAA Constitution and By-Laws was ratified; new Alumni Council officers were elected; dozens of alumni events were hosted; record-breaking attendance numbers were realized during Homecoming and Family Weekend; Educate For Service Awards were presented; and the official alumni association “Blue Jays. Always.” clothing line was launched. Also worthy of note, the Office of Alumni Relations welcomed new staff member, Caitlin Koller ’11, assistant director of Alumni Relations, into the fold. An exciting few months for sure! What’s next, you might ask? Our planning engines for local and regional programming and engagement opportunities have been in full gear, and alumni staff and volunteers are preparing for an exciting spring season....
