Progress Report: ECTV-40

I feel like the ECTV website is going great!  It’s much more appealing to the eye then the old website.  Also, I like how its a little more interactive with the clickable buttons to ECTV’s facebook and twitter and youtube sites.  I feel like the site is much more organized than the old site as well.  I really like the design that Steph and I chose.  It’s a fun design!  I had never worked with wordpress before and now after being involved in the creation of ECTV’s site, I love wordpress!  It is very easy to use and you can do a lot with it.  I have even created another blog for my adventure this summer using wordpress.

I feel like Steph and I have done a good job setting up and organizing the new website, so that it will be easier for future “webmasters” of ECTV to update and change.  The board of director’s page will definately change every year, as well as the home page because the home page is for ECTV’s updates and such, but other then that, I think that there won’t be too much to change for a while.  Steph and I used the class’s ECTV description in the about page as well.

As of right now, I’m satisfied with the Productions and About pages.  I wish the Board of Directors page had a little more to it, but I feel like it is okay for now because it is the end of the semester.  Next year, I hope to have pictures and maybe a little bio on the Board of Directors page too. That way, we can actually put a face to the name and the community can know a little more about who is behind ECTV.  The clickable buttons in the sidebar that link to youtube, twitter, and facebook are awesome!  I feel like by creating those and with the help of Kevin and Dr. Helb, coding them, I have learned a lot.  I also am looking forward to getting the Flickr feed to properly link.  I think its a great idea, there are just a few kinks to work out with it.  Steph and I did however put the pictures into the flickr account, they just need to be linked to the website now.  We are also waiting to hear from Comcast about the schedule thing for the calendar page.  Also, the watch now section needs to be up and running, but we’re definately going to need some help with that.  I’m sure we can just add “coming soon” or “under construction” pictures until we get those fixed.  That way there aren’t any blank pages on the site.

I think Steph and I work really well together.  We make decisions about the page together and agree on most things.  It’s good that we can also work on other things to benefit the page despite the technical difficulties about the page that we’ve encountered.
